New iOS5 Important Features

With the release of iPhone 4S, Apple release the most awaited new iOS 5 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 2,iPad 3 and first-generation iPad at WWDC. Before the release of iOS 5 everyone was expecting some cool features in the new iOS as Beta version was available before the official release .

I am going to list down 6 important features out of 200 features(as announced by Apple) which are there in the new iOS5.

Start Camera without Unlocking the Screen Lock

As we know camera app is one of the most used icon in an iPhone or iPad as generally most of us love to click photos, so keeping this in mind Apple has put a new feature in iOS 5 through which you can just open the camera by double-tapping the home button when the device is screen locked, the cam icon will come on screen, tap on it and start clicking!

Assistive Touch

This feature comes into play when physical buttons of your device start giving problems and you are not able to access them. In this situation Assistive Touch is a feature added which shows the physical buttons on your screen which you can easily access by tapping the icon.

Take pictures using Apple’s headphone remote

Yeah you read it right! If you are having an Apple’s headphone then it is now possible to take photos by just pressing Volume-Up button. This feature can be really useful in situations where you want to take a snap from your phone without touching your phone,but for that your headphone must be connected with your device over air.

A new split keyboard (only for iPad)

It gives you a power to tap out a message using your thumbs. In landscape view, it’s not possible to type easily if you have smaller hands. To avoid this simply place two fingers on the keyboard and move them outwards to split the keyboard in half or at left and right hand side of you tab.
This feature is only included in an iPad because it has bigger screen and we need our both hands to type effectively.

Alternate routes in Google Maps

Now you can use the great feature of Google maps in your new iOS 5. Before this, it was only possible on desktop computers/laptops, and now this great feature is finally available on iOS devices too. To obtain the route between the source and the destination, enter the source and destination place and then just tap Route 1, Route 2, etc., to move between shown directions.

Custom tones for email, tweets, calendar events and much more

Apple has finally added the feature to use custom tones for texts, new voicemails, new e-mail, sent email, sent tweets, calendar alerts, and reminder alerts in iOS 5 ,it is simply an alert which you can assign to various events according to your needs.
